MATTHEW MADSEN - Executive Chairman
Matthew has almost 20 years’ experience in the funds management industry, predominantly in Director roles.
Matthew also has significant property and property finance experience, acting (including at GARDA) as a finance intermediary focused on larger construction and property investment funding.
As Executive Chairman of the GARDA Capital Group, Matthew has been responsible for the reposition of the group since September 2011.
Matthew is also Chair of the Advisory Board for residential land developer, Trask Development Corporation.
Matthew holds a Diploma in Financial Services, a Diploma in Financial Markets, is an affiliate member of the Securities Institute of Australia, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
LEYLAN NEEP - Executive Director and CFO
Leylan Neep has over 17 years’ experience in the financial services industry with a strong track record in accounting, finance, and funds management.
He was most recently the Chief Operating Officer at Blue Sky Alternative Investments Limited, and was responsible for all the operational activities of the group, including accounting, funds administration, information technology, and compliance.
Leylan has worked for a broad range of fund managers and financial institutions including positions as an Associate Director at UBS Investment Bank and as an Analyst with GLG Partners, a London based hedge fund. Leylan also has extensive experience in finance roles with several international investment banks.
Leylan holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Bond University and is a qualified Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). Leylan is a member of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Governance Institute of Australia.
MATTHEW BURROWS - Head of Property
Matthew is an experienced Director and seasoned Entrepreneur, holding more than 25 years’ success in real estate investment, property, asset and fund management. Recognised for his ability to identify smart acquisition opportunities that balance risk to deliver maximum return, Matthew provides the confidence to investors that is needed to build multimillion-dollar property portfolios.
Building on an early career in corporate real estate and property valuation with JLL and Horton’s Real Estate, Matthew was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Denison Funds Management, a property and funds management group that he operated from 2003 to 2016. In this role Matthew was responsible for fund and asset strategy whilst also acting as a Compliance Committee Member and Chairman of Denison Fund Management Board.
Matthew holds a Master of Management from Macquarie Graduate School of Management, diplomas spanning financial markets, valuation and real estate and is RG146 compliant. In his spare time, Matthew has dedicated his expertise as a committee member to the Property Funds Association of Australia.
LACHLAN DAVIDSON - General Counsel and Company Secretary
Lachlan is responsible for the legal and compliance activities of the GARDA Capital Group, including risk and corporate governance monitoring.
Lachlan is a qualified lawyer with 20 years’ experience in corporate fundraising and managed investments. He worked for his first 10 years in for three of the world’s largest law firms, both in Brisbane and in London. He worked as General Counsel for the largest independent investment bank in the Middle East for 6 years, and headed international Legal while being involved in fundraisings of over $US5 billion across IPOs and private equity funds. He was Compliance Officer and Group Company Secretary for nearly 4 years of that time. Lachlan most recently headed the legal function at Golding Contractors, one of Australia’s largest private civil and mining contractors
Lachlan holds a Law degree, a BSc in Genetics and Biochemistry, and an MBA. He is a JP (Qualified), Graduate of the AICD Directors Course.
PAUL BROWN - Manager, Investor Relations
Paul has been employed at GARDA Capital Group since 2012 and is a key member of the funds management team. In his time with the Group, he has been a part of the GDF and GCM initial public offers and various capital raising, collectively valued at over $100 million.
Paul executes fund analysis, forecasting and manages the cash flow of GARDA Diversified Property Fund whilst also providing research on structure and performance in the listed property sector. He is responsible for developing the GARDA Capital Group investor relations material and seeks to grow strong relationships with both existing and new investors as well as brokers and institutions.
Paul has previously worked with global organisations, Allianz and Vodafone, developing strong skills in product and business development.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance and Funds Management), is RG146 qualified and has 8 years equities experience in research, analysis and modelling of resource equity transactions of a private fund.
CHRISTIAN SEYMOUR - General Manager, Capital Works & Facilities
Christian is responsible for overseeing the delivery of multiple projects for the GARDA business including commercial fit out, building refurbishment, maintenance projects/programs and facilities management. Christian is a senior Project Manager with over 15 years’ experience, combined with management, business and construction industry knowledge.
Prior to GARDA, Christian was senior project manager with MINC, and prior to that was a project manager at Stockwell, as well as facilities manager at Harburg Investments. Christian has extensive experience as a project manager on commercial and retail fit outs.
PAUL LOHR - Asset Manager
Paul is responsible for the property portfolio management activities of the GARDA Capital Group.
Paul has 18 years’ experience in the property industry, predominantly in investment management and finance. He was most recently the Head of Investment and Trading at Eris Property Group, a leading South African property development and services company. Paul was responsible for the performance and management of the Group's proprietary investment portfolios. Prior to that he was General Manager Finance, responsible for the finance and accounting functions of the group and property portfolios under management.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Johannesburg.
